Y6 Sheep Heart Dissection
22/10/2025 4:41 PM

This afternoon, in accordance with our science topic of Animals Including Humans, Year 6 have completed a sheep heart dissection.

We learnt about the four chambers of the heart and how the heart works with the circulatory system to supply oxygenated blood where it is needed in the body.

The children were incredibly curious throughout and demonstrated a good understanding of the process and the structure of the heart.

Well done Year 6!

This weekend a number of our Year 5 and 6 students attended the Stalybridge Celtic FC match against Bootle. In partnership with Literacy Kicks the children were able to interview the manager, speak with the players before the match and even wave the flags as the players came onto the pitch.
The club were absolutely amazing with the children, as was Literacy Kicks. Our children were outstanding ambassadors for our school demonstrating exemplary behaviour at all times.
Well done OLMC! 💙💛

Black History Month Assembly
6/11/2025 2:38 PM
Before we finished for half term, we had a lovely assembly to celebrate Black History Month. Each class learnt about an inspirational person who stood up for others and pursued change.
They then shared this in the assembly with the whole school. We learnt about Rosa Parks, Marcus Rashford, Nelson Mandela and many others. Well done Our Lady’s, for speaking so confidently, sharing such inspiring stories, and reminding us all how we can make a difference and stand up for what’s right.
Letter from Angela Rayner (MP)
6/11/2025 2:33 PM
We were delighted to receive a letter from our local MP, Angela Rayner, wishing us luck in our upcoming chess competition in London.
We are incredibly proud of our children, who take part in 32 chess sessions each year during their time in Year 3. We also run a weekly chess club open to all pupils in Key Stage 2.
Mr. Dainty, our dedicated chess teacher, has inspired many of our pupils to continue playing and developing their skills outside of school.
We’re now eagerly looking forward to seeing who will be selected for our special chess trip in December.
A big thank you to Angela Rayner for her kind words and encouragement! ♟️♟️
